Korea Projects


ICCSL professionals visited Seoul for the first time in January 2005, when they accompanied the Vietnamese delegation to learn about the current legal environment in South Korea. They returned in March 2005 to discuss further cooperation between ICCSL and various organizations in Korea. The current and projected projects and partners include:

Seoul National University and Yonsei University– development of an NPO Law course with law faculty at SNU and parts of NPO Management courses at Yonsei. The next visit will occur in October 2005 to firm up plans for the courses. It is also expected that some Korean lawyers/law students will attend the NPO Law course to be taught in Beijing beginning in September.

The Beautiful Foundation and PSPD – development of better tax legislation to support the NPO sector in Korea.

Volunteer 21 – development of volunteer legislation.

Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs – dissemination (through IJCSL) of information about government support programs for NPOs in Korea.

Office of the Prime Minister, Civil Affairs and Petitions Directorate – dissemination (through IJCSL) of information about government support programs for NPOs in Korea.

Asia Foundation Office in Seoul – coordination on and support of these projects.
